Women Use Social Media Sites More Often Than Men…Except for One

According to the new infographic below from FinancesOnline more women use most social media sites more often than menexcept for one.

Can you guess the social network that has more men than women? Check out the infographic below and find out.

These stats are based on adult U.S. women who use Facebook, Tumblr, Pinterest, Instagram and Twitter than their male counterparts.

The one social network that boasts more men is the professional-networking site LinkedIn.

Perhaps the reason for this difference is because women are generally more family oriented than men, and women who stay home to raise children might have extra time to use social media sites.  I’m not saying that being a mom is easy!  But I am basing this conjecture in part on a few Mom’s I know who are social media addicts.

On the flip side men are generally more career oriented and this would explain their propensity to pursue the benefits business related opportunities on LinkedIn.  Certainly there is plenty of overlap here and many men use social media as much or more than most women. (Self included) 🙂

Why do you think women are more active on Social Media?

How do you explain the fact that more men are active on LinkedIn?

I don’t think it has anything to do with women being at home parents. I work full time – my husband is the at home parent. He is never on social networking sites (doesn’t even have accounts on any of them), while I am always on them. Why? Because, like most women, I am more social. I like to share pics of my family, and a good recipe I made the night before. I like to show off the headband I crocheted, or share the blog post I just wrote. My husband, on the other hand, watches sports, plays video games, and, like most men I know, doesn’t feel the need to babble about everything to everyone he knows.
